Rio’s highest peak, Pico da Tijuca (1022m – 3353ft) is located in the middle of the Tijuca Forest, and overlooks most of the city. Before the hiking, there is a stop by the entrance of the national park to visit a huge, beautiful waterfall.The track starts at the idyllic Bom Retiro, a place up in the park, and lasts no more than one and a half hours. From there, you will have a wonderful view to most of Tijuca Forest’s landmarks, besides the Maracanã and Engenhão stadiums, Guanabara Bay and lots more.
